Does anyone have a decent workaround or program to extend the 1000 cache limit on pocket queries? Right now, my standard 'closest to home' query gets me 25.9 miles of coverage. I run this one every week or two and try to keep my GPSr reasonably up to date. However, the limit can be a problem depending on my destination. It gets me part of Frederick , but not Gambrill. I get half of the ICC Trail to the south and I just miss Spring Grove to the north. I've got a number of smaller 250 cache queries that I run for these other destinations, but many times I don't even know where I'll be caching until I get in my car and head out and occasionally I'll find myself in an area that I haven't updated my query for. For instance, today I was thinking of heading south and going for Just Go Home, but I could very well change my mind and end up in Frederick. [crazy]

Ideally, I'm looking for a simple pocket query that would extend my range up to 2500 caches or so that I could run once a week. I don't use GSAK or anything like that, but would be willing to learn if it achieved my goal. I guess it goes without saying that you are NOT to recommend a smartphone! [eek]

What I do is I run 8 1000 cache queries to grab every unfound cache in Maryland.  I do this in time order, so for example I run a query from Dec 1 2000-Jun 30 2005 of caches in Maryland not found by me and not placed by me.  That may get me 945 caches.  The next query would be from Jul 1 2005 - Mar 31 2007 or so to get the next 1000. I do this until I cover the entire time range.  For me it is 8 queries.  I run the first 7 queries about once a month and then run the final one, which contains the newest caches twice a week.  I will sometimes run the older ones more than once a month depending on the circumstances (I solved some older puzzles, I just grabbed a bunch older caches, SirCrab just went on the warpath and archived a bunch of older caches).
That way my GPS always have all the caches in Maryland loaded in it.

BRILLIANT!!! I see how that would work perfectly! For my purposes, I'll probably set the origin to my 'home' coordinates instead of trying to get all of Maryland since I really need to get southern PA. I'll have to play around with the date ranges to see what works best.

Don't tell Zekester but this website actually works...[wink]

Here's what I came up with using 1000 cache queries and the range it get's me:

2000-06: 53.1
2007-09: 44.4
2010-11: 42.1
2012:      47.7
2013:      42.1
2014:      45

That gets me from 25.9 to 42.1 miles away. Hard to believe that 5000 extra caches only increases the distance 16 miles. I need to cache more! [tongue]
